Can applaud connect to athenaOne?

YesReady: automatic connection

How it connects

Best way

Connects automatically

athenaOne sends each visit to applaud as it happens. Nothing for your team to do day to day.

FHIR R4 Certified API (free, self-service): Encounter + Patient polling or Group $export

Connects automatically: athenaOne

  1. applaud creates a 2-legged (system) app in athena's Developer Portal using Certified APIs only and requests system/Encounter.read and system/Patient.read; Production credentials are issued on creation, with no contract.
  2. Each practice's admin enables applaud's app on athenaOne's Manage Certified API Access admin page (and can disable it at any time).
  3. Every few minutes (or nightly with Group $export) applaud searches Encounter by date / _lastUpdated for the practice (confirm in athena's sandbox that a practice-wide date search works without a patient id), reads each Patient for first name and mobile, and posts new finished encounters to the intake API. The API is read-only, so there is no push.

Option 2

Connects through a partner tool

A connector tool links athenaOne to applaud.

Keragon: athenahealth 'Appointment created or updated' trigger

Connects through a partner tool: athenaOne

  1. Practice signs athena's A&C form for Keragon via marketplace.athenahealth.com (free; 1–5 business days).
  2. Connect athenahealth in Keragon with the practice ID; Keragon signs a BAA.
  3. Workflow: 'Appointment created or updated' trigger, filter to checked-out appointments, 'Get a patient' for first name and mobile, then Keragon's HTTP Client action POSTs to applaud's intake API with the practice's Bearer key.

Option 3

Upload to applaud

Import a spreadsheet of recent patients in your applaud portal, or add them by hand. Works with any system.

CSV import or add patients by hand, in your applaud portal

Upload to applaud: athenaOne

  1. Export your recent patients from athenaOne as a spreadsheet: first name and mobile number are all we need.
  2. In your applaud portal, open Patients and choose Import CSV, or add patients one at a time.
  3. That's it. applaud takes it from there.
