ModMed Certified FHIR R4 API for gGastro: Bulk FHIR $export of Patient + Encounter

Connects automatically: gGastro (ModMed)

  1. applaud registers once as a ModMed Certified FHIR API vendor (self-service vendor dashboard) and creates a Bulk FHIR app with only system/Patient.rs and system/Encounter.rs scopes.
  2. The practice finds its gGastro endpoint in ModMed's public endpoint directory, and a practice admin adds applaud's ClientId to the practice (one time).
  3. applaud runs a $export with _type=Patient,Encounter and _since set to the last run (daily or a few times a day), then downloads the ndjson files. ModMed's reference documents a system-level $export; the gGastro CapabilityStatement lists Patient- and Group-level $export, so confirm which level the Bulk FHIR app gets at registration.
  4. For each Encounter dated since the last run, applaud reads the linked Patient's given name and phone and posts first name + mobile to /api/v1/contacts. Nothing else from the Encounter is kept.
  5. Unconfirmed: which Encounter.status gGastro sets when a visit is complete, and whether Patient.telecom marks the number as mobile. Check both on the first export before going live.

Upload to applaud

Import a spreadsheet of recent patients in your applaud portal, or add them by hand. Works with any system.

Upload to applaud: gGastro (ModMed)

  1. Export your recent patients from gGastro (ModMed) as a spreadsheet: first name and mobile number are all we need.
  2. In your applaud portal, open Patients and choose Import CSV, or add patients one at a time.
  3. That's it. applaud takes it from there.
